Client: Advanced Viticulture and Management for Regional Development Australia, Barossa
Seed was engaged by Barossa business Advanced Viticulture and Management (AV&M) to develop a Water Adaptation Plan for the Barossa Region on behalf of Regional Development Australia (RDA) Barossa. The region has multiple sources of water, as well as water allocation planning requirements. The region recognises that adaptation to climate change is particularly important given the importance of water security for agriculture and industry, particularly the wine sector, in the Barossa region.
The project involved a large component of engagement with water users, industry and government across the region to determine the water-related aspects the region considered needed attention to improve water security for the future. Previous work in the region on water planning was also considered.
Seed’s work enabled the region to consider its future water needs, water security strategies and timeframes for addressing short- to medium-term needs and longer-term actions in a clear water adaptation plan.
