September 2015 – January 2016
Seed was engaged by PIRSA to prepare future food scenarios to inform strategic and investment planning for the Northern Adelaide Plains.
The project identified the potential in terms of the growth of food production, including horticulture and meat, and combined Seed’s local knowledge and understanding of food production drivers with scenario planning techniques.
The project involved applying scenario planning techniques to identify drivers of future change in food demand in the region; the preparation of a scenario framework; and the development of four scenarios. An agriculture benefits model was then developed to identify the potential increase in revenue and jobs from the proposed future food scenarios.
Seed was able to provide PIRSA with a final report that was used to support application or funding from the Federal Government for investment in water infrastructure in the region.
