Seed undertook an i-Tree Eco (inventory) assessment of the trees in Ridge Park to determine their structural and functional characteristics and valuations. Working with an arborist, Seed undertook the measurement of 683 trees within the Park, as well as conducting an i-Tree eco assessment and analysis of the data. The creek was surveyed and key rehabilitation issues were identified; options for addressing the issues were provided; and plants species for use in rehabilitation planting works were recommended.
The i-Tree Eco assessment represents the first of its kind conducted in South Australia and is one of only a small number conducted within Australia. It provides a baseline on which to measure and monitor on-going planting programs and tree values, and allows for trees to be better valued as an asset, helping to justify the business case for more trees in urban areas.
